Ad Campaign Project

Final Results

During the whole filming sessions last week I found myself stressing out about the whole thing, mainly because I was worried about how me and my partner as production designers were going to make this work. With the whiskey bottle we found out that we could fill it with tea to make it look like actual whiskey. I think the most difficult room to design would have to be the bedrooms because we had to fill up a lot of the walls but make it look exactly to the theme we wanted the rooms to be.

The room where the party scene was pretty enjoyable mainly because we found it a lot easier to fill up the space of the walls like for a few of the walls we added picture frames or used a gift wrap that kinda looked like a patterned wallpaper. At first I thought we went to mainstream with everything but when the lighting was all set I could see it all work together. For a few of the party scenes some of us students had to fill in for certain sections, I was kinda annoyed with myself because I was wearing a slightly red t-shirt and lighting crew used a red gel for the lighting, so pretty much the colour scheme fail every time I was in the path of the red light.

I found the filming for the second room horrible with the way I had to set it not because the wall or anything but by how I had to tell one of the main actors how to place themselves for this scene, I understood why I was told to help because we wanted to make sure the actor was comfortable even if it meant I had to stay in the room with them through majority of the time. Unfortunately I think everyone got quite annoyed with the director and how he treated a few of the actors, I don't actually think he realised how he spoke and treated them was rude, especially with our main actress, he made her uncomfortable with one of our main scenes that I actually had to step in and tell him off. Other than that I think the rest of the filming went pretty well.

Ad Editing Experiment

For our final project each student had to create the scenes for the ad but as as experiment adding sound effects and music when necessary, for my experiment I decided to use the scenes for the beginning of the ad, I didn't use any music or sound effects until I got to scene with the dad watching TV. Then when the boy is in the kitchen sneaking around is when I lower the volume of the TV sound effects.

Colour Wheel Scheme

I kinda forgot about this site last term, but I found this slightly helpful even though I am still having a hard time deciding on which colours to use avoiding mainly white as much as possible. With this colour wheel scheme it kinda helped on which colours that I would like to use base on the colour rule I would like to use.

Colour Rule: Complementary

Colour Rule: Traid

Colour Rule: Compound

Colour Schemes

For class as both Production designer and Wardrobe crew, I have to figure the colour schemes, this kinda would help if my partner with production design could actually help with ideas for how the room where the party is going to film should look like and what colours to use, then we can talk to lighting crew to help by asking about the type of lighting they were going to use, whether it would be coloured which I think it would be a creative way to portray the party theme in the ad. after having a quick chat with producers they told me the colours to avoid is white (which I already knew because it would reflect from the lighting) and red because its a difficult colour to control.

After talking to the producers I went on this site:

Looking at all the different types of colour schemes used for each film, I am still a bit confused with the whole colour scheme so I might continue asking for help from the producers, lighting crew and the camera crew.

Ad campaign- Crew Member Role

Role: Production Designer and Wardrobe Crew

For our class Ad project we were put in certain roles whether it was director, producer or apart of the film crew. For me I got two roles, I was placed as a Production Designer which is a person who is responsible for the overall look of the film, for instants for a party theme in the room we would have to decorate it to look like a party especially if the wall were empty, we would have to figure out how to cover majority of the wall and what colour schemes we would use.

My other role was being apart of the wardrobe crew, for this role I had to figure out the colour scheme for the rooms where the actors would be filmed and make sure it would work well, when filming a party scene you don't want them to all be wearing similar colours especially if you want the audience to find the main characters in the film. I'm also responsible for make up so powdering up the actors so the light won't shine off there skin during filming is also important.

In this class I have been chosen to be both production designer and wardrobe crew for the television ad our class will be making. Based off the theme of the ad I found out that there was going to be a party scene in the ad so from getting the idea from another ad I decided to use this one to help with how the room should look and how to dress the actors. The main thing I liked about this film was how the main character stood out with his green jacket and how the girl he likes stands out with the red jacket shes wearing.

Ad Research 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIX9oREk8Fw

In this ad I kinda thought it was a little bit boring, mainly because I kinda knew what was going to happen, but there was one scene I thought was effective and that was how they had the same guy who was raping the girl banging against a glass wall, yelling at himself to stop. Other than that I kinda got bored of the whole ad because the message seemed to go on for to long.

In this ad what took my interest was how the music was all happy and the scene was about the child making some kind of art work, in the process of it all you see the child is happy and is wearing his art work and then you hear a door slam and the boys face changes dramatically as you hear the sound of foot steps the scene shows the boy turning himself in drawers during this the music starts to slowly turn in to a sad tune in the end, which reveals the door being opened and shows the audience of a man who may come across as the father of the boy then the man leaves and the ending scene shows the drawers and the message, 'There are Children who play to be invisible', appears next to the drawers.

The use of lighting in this film was actually really well done what I liked about it was how it worked well with the scenes, so when it was happy scene the lighting was brighter but as soon as the scene turned to sad the lighting was slightly dimmer than before.
